In 2004 the guys over at Shop.com conducted a marketing research and found out that the Monday after Thanksgiving was one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. It seemed that Americans were doing some serious window shopping during the Thanksgiving weekend and then went on to buy the same products much cheaper online, often during working hours, the following Monday. Well, one needs some adjustment time back to work, right? That’s when the Scott Silverman of Shop.com and his team started using the term “Cyber Monday”. Since 2005, the term has been widely used within the online shopping community.
